10 Historically Documented Colors
The 1936 Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company brochure introduces Florhide Enamel, a durable linseed oil-based paint suitable for both interior and exterior applications, including floors and decks. This enamel was formulated to provide long-lasting coverage with the gloss and depth expected of early 20th-century oil-based finishes.
The 10 colors offered reflect the period palette, featuring practical yet historically accurate tones appropriate for residential use.
For modern application, these gloss colors are offered in satin or semi-gloss.
These colors are ideal for:
- Restoring 1930s-era homes and interiors
- Period-accurate floor and deck surfaces
- Historic exteriors requiring durable and authentic color
Note: Original sheen levels are preserved as closely as possible. Gloss finishes are supplied in modern satin or semi-gloss.
Color Matching & Sample Disclaimer
We define our historic color matches as precison-matched in hue to original manufacturer references. Each 8 oz sample is produced in our standard match grade to accurately represent the color.
Due to differences between paint products and finishes, the same color may vary slightly when produced in other grades or sheens.
Higher-grade paint options are available for final applications, just as with full home orders.
Upgrade for Best Results
Your sample represents the color. Your final paint determines the finish.
For full projects, we recommend upgrading to a higher-performance paint line for superior coverage, durability, and overall appearance—especially on exteriors and detailed trim.
